Audio-PSS development of product service systems in tele-audiology
Motivation
Declining hearing is one of the most common functional limitations in old age. Modern hearing systems offer help, but require a stressful acclimation and adjustment period of several weeks. Current, networked hearing systems that connect the hearing aid with the smartphone enable new solutions here, but also lead to fundamental changes in traditional business models in hearing aid acoustics.
Target
The Audio-PSS project has two goals: First, to increase the acceptance and comfort of modern hearing systems for the hearing impaired, and second, to investigate new business models in the hearing aid industry. For this purpose, innovative services based on a networked hearing system will be developed and evaluated.
Technologies
Based on experienced hearing situations of the user and experiences of other users, the hearing aid users are supported in the acclimatization and in the long-term use independent of location and time. Additional services can also be implemented: For example, restaurants or cultural venues with good acoustics can be displayed to hearing-impaired people, and noise maps can be created for environmental research or urban planning. The project thus uses the example of hearing aid acoustics to show how the digital transformation can be successfully shaped by means of personal services.
