IMFIT
– Innovation network for individualized, model-based hearing aid fitting
By combining laboratory data, everyday life and modeling, this project lays the foundation for noticeably better everyday communication for the hearing impaired.

About the project
Better hearing in everyday life
Significantly improved communication for hearing-impaired people in their everyday lives through individualized, theory-driven model-based hearing aid fitting: this is the common long-term goal of the "Innovation Network for Individualized, Model-Based Hearing Aid Fitting" (IMFIT).
Collaborative project with impact
This three-year joint project is supported by the state of Lower Saxony with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The research partners are: Carl-von-Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics), Jade University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth (Institute of Hearing Technology and Audiology) and Hörzentrum Oldenburg gGmbH (also coordinating the project).

From the lab to everyday life
By interlinking laboratory measurements, modeling and everyday analyses, the influence of individual factors of hearing impairment as well as their interaction in the form of good/poor speech comprehension or listening effort in different acoustic situations is to be investigated in a differentiated manner and hearing aid fitting improved.
Subproject 2: Laboratory
Sub-project 2, which is based at the Hörzentrum Oldenburg, is concerned with the laboratory setting. We are creating a hearing profile that includes the essential aspects of hearing loss for modeling and consideration of everyday life. In connection with this, we are building a measurement method kit and a test person database. In studies with hearing-impaired people with and without hearing aids, we combine the individual modeling of laboratory measurements with the subjective assessment in everyday life.
