Hearing loss has many consequences for those affected and also for their environment. The hearing loss simulator "HSIM" is a simple and effective tool that allows people with hearing loss to experience an individual hearing loss and the use of hearing instruments for people with good hearing.
With just a few clicks, family members, classmates or work colleagues can understand the situation of hearing impaired people. By personally experiencing the consequences of hearing loss, the environment is involved in both the decision for hearing instruments and their regular use and can be supportive.
One tool - different areas of application!
Help with inclusion - The HSIM can be used by hearing impaired educators to make classmates, parents and also teachers aware of a child's hearing impairment and to initiate important technical support measures for the child in the classroom.
Ears open in occupational health and safety - HSIM vividly demonstrates the consequences of hearing loss. If the tool is used by occupational health professionals as part of education and prevention, it can be used to increase the acceptance of hearing protection and thus reduce hearing damage in noisy workplaces.
Relatives, an important supporter for successful hearing care - The HSIM enables the hearing care professional to impressively present the difference 'hearing without hearing aids' and 'hearing with hearing aids' and can thus win the relative as an important partner in hearing care. Experiencing the hearing loss and the associated change of perspective enables the relatives to recognize the cause of a multitude of problems in daily interaction. The hearing system becomes a problem solver and regular use is supported accordingly.
